Description

A small Chinese dish decorated in underglaze blue, and dating from the mid Ming period c1500. The interior of the dish is decorated around the rim with four panels containing a lots flower and Buddhist objects surrounded by sketchily drawn flower scrolls. The cnetre of the dish is decorated with a single flower head. Diameter 8.1 cm (3.2")

From the collection of Gerald Davison, and with his label attached giving a dating of C14th Century. We prefer to date this slightly later.

Dating: late 15th or early C16th Century

Condition:

There is some wear and softening to the glaze of this dish, perhaps from burial, most noticeable in the centre, and one very small rim chip.  Please see the images.
