A well-decorated Chinese saucer dating from the Kangxi period

Description

A good quality Chinese saucer, decorated in underglaze blue of a good clear colour, and dating from the Kangxi period.  The saucer is decorated in the centre with a scene of a scholar and his attendant riding towards a walled town on the other side of a lake.  Around the rim, which is moulded in to spiral panels, are alternating scenes of riders on horseback and houses amidst trees. The back of the saucer is decorated with lotus flower heads around the rim, and with a lotus flower in double underglaze blue circles on the base.  Diameter 13.3cm (5.2”)

An excellent example of skilled Kangxi period decoration.

Dating: Kangxi c 1700

Condition:

This saucer is in excellent, undamaged, condition with only a little glaze fritting at the rim. No chips, cracks or restoration. Please see the images.
