Description
A good quality Chinese famille verte plate decorated in overglaze green, blue, yellow, aubergine and red enamels and dating from the Kangxi period. The plate is decorated in the centre with a scene of 2 hens in a garden setting underneath a flowering tree emerging from ornamental rockwork, and with a table nearby with plants in pots. The rim is decorated with alternating panels of precious objects and fish separated by a richly-coloured ground with stylised peony flowers. An underglaze blue incense burner (ding) mark within double underglaze blue circles to the base. Diameter 21.8cm (8.6")

Condition:
This plate is in excellent, undamaged, condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is a small raised area in the enamels near the rim, introduced during manufacture and before firing, which is shown in the last photograph.
