A Chinese teabowl with Dutch fine-line decoration, Qianlong

Description

A finely-potted Chinese teabowl with Dutch black fine-line decoration of harbour scenes. The teabowl is decorated with two oval panels outlined with black enamel and gilding containing two finely observed scenes of figures and sailing boats. The inside of the bowl has a scene of a Dutch woman walking towards a house. Diameter 7cm (2.8”)

From our personal collection.

Dating: Qianlong c1750-1760

Condition:  The teabowl is in very good condition with minor glaze fritting at the rim. The grisaille scene in the interior is rubbed, but the scenes on the outside of the bowl are in good condition, as can be appreciated from the pictures.  The rim originally had a gilt band applied, and this has substantially worn away.

Price: £165
