Description
A nice quality Chinese export coffee cup, decorated en grisaille with overglaze fine black and red lines and iron red wash together with gilding, and dating from the Qianlong period c 1750-1760. The cup has been decorated with an attractive scene of a man and woman sitting together, the woman holding a large garland of flowers. There is a formal border of arches with hanging flowers and bells around the rim. Cup height 6.5cm (2.6")
As can be appreciated in the images the decoration on this cup is in particularly good, bright, condition. From the collection of Helen Espir, author of the book 'European decoration on Oriental porcelain'. Dating: Qianlong c1750-1760
Condition:
This cup is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There are a few 'fleabite' frits at the rim, and a few glaze pinholes inside the cup and to the base
