Description
A nice quality Chinese box and cover, decorated in underglaze blue of an inky indigo tone, and made in the Zhangzhou kilns in Fujian Province (so called 'Swatow' ware) in the late Ming period. The cover has a charming scene of a duck swimming amidst water plants, and the box is decorated with further water plants. Diameter 5 cm (2").
Dating: Late Ming c 1580 - 1640
Condition This box and cover are in very good, undamaged, condition. There is some slight crazing to the glaze of the base
