Description

A rare Chinese export Imari mustard pot and cover, dating from the Kangxi period. The pot is decorated in typical Imari palette of underglaze blue and overglaze iron red enamel with two cockerels and two other birds facing each other in a fenced garden with flowering plants.  There is a label to the base for London specialists Guest and Gray.  Height including lid 12cm (4.7”)

Dating: Kangxi c 1720

Condition:

This unusual mustard pot is in very good condition.  There is some chipping to the inside of the foot rim resulting in a section of the inside rim which is rough to the touch, and one small glaze frit to the rim of the lid.  No other damage, cracks or restoration. Please see the images.
